About the Event

Our British Home Children Family Reunion 2018 will take place on Sunday July 22nd at 12:30 pm until 5 pm. The event host will be John Jefkins, whose Toronto Star article raised the profile of BHC in Ontario.

Author Patricia Skidmore will be launching her new book "Marjorie: Her War Years". This much anticipated book is the sequel to her widely read book "Marjorie: Too Afraid to Cry". Sharing her story has brought Marjorie a lot of peace and comfort, she was involved in the writing of "Her War Years" but sadly passed away in 2017 before the book was released.

The day will feature Donald Grey and a special screening of his 2005 film "Nobody's Child - Canada's Home Children" Produced in London Ontario, this presentation brings home this highly acclaimed documentary.

The day will also feature the music of Cambridge, Ontario's Allison Lupton. Allison is a singer and a contemporary songwriter. Allison's Great Uncle was a British Home Child and she has written a song about the BHC to be performed at our event this year!

We are thrilled to confirm that Stamford Collegiate in Niagara Falls will be performing their BHC AWARD WINNING play "Breaking the Silence" . They created the play "Breaking the Silence" based on our work and books including "Bleating of the Lambs", "Marjorie: Too Afraid to Cry" and "Stepping Stones".

John Fielding will be on hand to share his personal story about his Father who was a British Home Child.

We will have an authors table where you can purchase books and speak to the authors. Stepping Stones authors Jan and John Milnes will be present.

Renowned Author, local to London, Marjorie Kolhi, will be there and available to onsite research and/or help with information. Marjorie's book "The Golden Bridge" remains one of the most important books written about the BHC and the organizations who brought them.
