Suzanne Pearson Little Rock Standing Hawk Woman - is a Home Child descendant on her maternal side. Her great grandmother came to Canada at the age of 2 years through Middlemore Homes. On her paternal side her family served the Hudson Bay Company during the fur trade era, they attended residential schools and are descendants of the Shuswap in Williams Lake BC. Suzanne currently lives in Winnipeg and is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters who both love the outdoors. The family spend most of their time canoeing, kayaking, camping and learning about harvesting flowers, herbs and medicines. Suzanne’s youngest daughter is a champion Irish dancer and the family have been involved with Folklarama in Winnipeg for many years.
Suzanne has a Bachelor of Social Work and earned a Master’s degree in 1998 through the University of Victoria. Suzanne has spent most of her career working with children who live with disabilities and families who struggle with the effects of intergenerational trauma. She is currently employed as a Clinician with the St Amant Centre Jordan’s Principle team. Suzanne’s role within Home Child Canada is to ensure that Home Children and their descendants have access to cultural and community connections, advocacy and support around intergenerational trauma experiences.
