The idea for this page is to provide teaching packages and ideas for school children. The BHC are in the Ontario school curriculum as a suggested topic for Grades 6, 8 and 10. However, many more teachers are bringing this story to their classes.

Developed by award winning Author Beryl Young and BHCARA CEO Lori Oschefski, these lesson plans are based on the award winning book, "Charlie - A Home Child's Life in Canada". Included are suggested learning activities, relevent research sites and BHC related word search puzzles.

Copies of Charlie can be purchased at Amazon.ca

"Born of Good Intentions" is a film about the BHC which examines the history of the BHC schemes, how it was possible and what the children endured in Canada. It helps to explain what is behind the glaring silence by the BHC and why this is an obscure part of our Canadian History.

This film can be viewed two ways, by linking in through Youtube, link above or by contacting us at info@BritishHomeChildren.com for a digital copy. A shorter 25 minute version of this film is also available.

There is a children's film available. Please contact us at info@britishhomechildren.com for use of this film.
