William Barraclough and Ada M. Davis had at least 2 children: George E. Barraclough, born 1921; and Dorothy D. Barraclough. Her brother George was sent to Australia in June, 1930, on the ship Balranald. Dorothy and George never saw each other again.

Dorothy Barraclough had been told that her father went to serve in WWI, and returned blind and crippled. She was raised by her Grandmother until the age of 9 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. In 1932 she went to Australia; the Ashield Hostel then to Singleton. In 1938 Dorothy married Aubrey Walsh.
