Notes

In 1934, Miss M. English, 6, arrived at Fremantle, Australia, in a group of 30 children from the Child Emigration Society, 115, The Strand, London, England.

An obituary was published in The Fairbridgian, Winter, 1947:
r n"On Monday, March the 10th, 1947, word was received from the Royal Perth Hospital that an Old Fairbridgian--Marion English--had passed away early that morning. Marion was only nineteen years of age, but had been ill for some time. Her death came as a great shock to everyone.

The body was brought to the Farm School for burial. The first part of the Service was held in the School Chapel, all children, O.F's and Staff attending. Many wreaths and floral tributes were sent. The Service at the Church and Cemetery was taken by Canon W. R. Burns, and the Pall-bearers were: Fred Briggs, Lenn Suffling, Don Finlay and Napier Macleod."

Marion English is buried at Fairbridge Cemetery. The cemetery is located a couple of kilometres past the farm and beyond the second gravel pit. Containing some 24 graves, this is a very secluded and peaceful resting place. The cemetery is well tended.
