A birth registration was found for Stanley C Witts: Mother's Maiden Surname: Palmer; Date of Registration: Apr May Jun 1928; Registration district: Reading; Registration county: Hampshire, Berkshire; Volume Number: 2c; Page Number: 601.

Stanley's mother died from tuberculosis two months after his birth, leaving four children under five.

The family sent the two eldest boys to a monastic home to be brought up and the other two girls to a convent. From that day, the girls never saw their brothers or father again.

In 1938, S. C. Witts, 10, arrived at Fremantle, Australia, in a group of Catholic boys from Nazareth House, Stoke Bishop.

Stanley lived in Clontarf from 1938-1942; then Tardun (from 1942-1945); then back again to Clontarf (from 1945-1946); then to Bindoon (from 1946-1947). He joined the Railways in Katanning and lived in the Railway Barracks until his death in 1968, aged 40.
