Home Children Canada's Beacon of Lights International Tribute
Each year on September 28, in honour of British Home Child Day, Home Children Canada hosts the Beacons of Light International Tribute—a powerful, symbolic event that brings communities together across Canada and around the world. Landmarks, buildings, and private residences are illuminated in recognition of the more than 100,000 British Home Children who were sent to Canada. These lights serve not only as a tribute to their resilience and contributions, but also as a reminder of their stories—many of which remained hidden for generations. The growing number of participating locations each year reflects a shared commitment to remembrance, education, and honouring the legacy of the Home Children.
